Omnico Opens Second Roof Fabrication Division
Following a year of exceptional growth in sales of Ultraframe Conservatory Roofs, Omnico Plastics have invested in a second roof fabrication division. The new unit, which began building its first roof just eight days after the lease was signed, is based on the Ferndown Industrial Estate close to the Hants/Dorset border. Working in tandem with the already well-established fabrication division based in Peterborough, the new branch will add significant capacity to the overall group operation.
Managing Director Colin Evans cites Omnico's drive to constantly improve customer service as a key reason factor in the expansion. "Whilst we were delighted with the growth that we saw in the roof sector last year, it did present us with a number of logistical problems. It was clear that further investment was required and having already doubled the size of the Peterborough operation in 2003, a new unit elsewhere seemed to make good sense. We discussed our plans with Ultraframe, who have been extremely supportive throughout, and taking into account the present and predicted distribution of sales we settled on Ferndown as an ideal location. We were then assisted by the unfortunate demise of the nearby SpaceAge Plastics which allowed us to employ two very experienced fabricators, both of whom who are very familiar with the Ultraframe system. This was a real bonus to us, as our goal at the outset was always to replicate the quality of fabrication that we have achieved at Peterborough whilst ultimately improving the service to our customers."
The addition of the Ferndown operation necessitated a re-structure in the Omnico Roof Division. Former Roof Shop Manager Ian Stimson has now taken up an external sales role once more, as Division Sales Manager for Conservatory Roofs. Ian relishes the challenge; "The best that any sales person could hope for is to have a top quality product to sell, and the combination of the Ultraframe system and our fabricating strength gives us just that. I am delighted to be working closely with Richard Cockett and the Omnico sales force, and if my first two months are anything to go by both Peterborough and Ferndown are in for a busy year!".
Following Ian's change of role, Martin Harriss has stepped up to manage the Peterborough Roof Division and Steve Jones has joined Omnico from a national Portal Roof fabricator to oversee fabrication at both locations. Steve, who also has extensive knowledge of the Ultraframe system, was delighted to join the Omnico team; "From what I have seen so far, the potential for further sustained growth is great. Omnico have a clear vision of what they want to achieve, they have top quality staff right across the group and they are not afraid to invest when the business case demands it. We have twenty-three branches at present, soon to be twenty-four, and probably the largest sales force in the industry. Provided we continue to do the simple things right and constantly listen to our customers, there is no reason why our recent track record of growth cannot be maintained and improved upon."
